why choose Cyprus for your winter football training?

Location and orientation

At the crossroads of three continents, Cyprus is well served by foreign airlines. More than 40 travel operators, including Cyprus Airways, the island’s national carrier, operate scheduled and charter flights to and from Larnaca and Paphos airports. Flying time from London is 4.5 hours; from Frankfurt it is 3.75 hours. A small island, it is possible to drive from Ayia Napa in the far south east of the island to Paphos in the far south west in under three hours. Nicosia, the island’s capital and the only divided city in Europe, is just one hour’s drive from Larnaca and less than two hours’ from Paphos.
All towns, cities, places of recreational and archaeological interest are well sign-posted in Cyprus and distances are displayed in both miles and kilometres. UK visitors don’t need this reminder, but to all other European visitors, please remember that we drive on the left!

Climate

The climate in Cyprus is that of long, hot summers and short, mild winters. Most of the rain falls in occasional, short but spectacular storms during the winter months of December, January and February, but temperatures usually remain about 16-20C and the sun still shines for an average of 5.5 hours each day. In July and August temperatures can reach well above the average 38C, with little or no rainfall and an average of 11.5 hours’ daily sunshine. The earliest sunrise is 5.30am in June and the latest is 6.55am in January. The earliest sunset is 4.35pm in December and the latest is 8pm in June and July.
